Sweet Penelope Plum...

Miss Penelope Plum still needs her clothes and shoes, but I couldn't help snapping a few photos of her while she's waiting.  I'm just in love with her lovely dark plum colored hair!  It's the first time I've used this color and it's a such pretty shade.  I debated for far too long on whether she needed green or blue eyes, but now that she's done, I think blue was the perfect choice.

Tonight I'll get to my favorite part, pouring through my fabric stash to find just the right fabrics to make her something pretty.  I just received some lovely Tilda fabrics that I think might go beautifully with her pretty eyes and hair.

Hopefully she'll be ready for find her new home Monday or Tuesday, so check back soon!

Thank you so much for stopping by Millie's Dollhouse!

    1. The Tibetan lambskin is just so fun to play with! I've been playing with Penelope's hair when I should have been sewing her clothes!

  4. dear katie.

i have one question to u. how do you put the arms of your dolls on the body? from outside? or from inside?
its look very solid and quite professional, your work.
and another one... have your dolls a realy botty, a bum?

    best wishes simone

  5. Simone, to make sure that the dolls arms are securely attached, I sew them first to the stem of the dolls head. Then they are sewn to the outside of the body. This way there is no risk of an arm detaching as the doll is played with. :)

For their bums, the bottom of the doll is rounded to help allow them to sit, however I do not normally add the strings to sculpt tiny tushy cheeks that I've seen on some dolls.

I hope that helps answer you questions. Have a great day!

  6. ...tiny tushy cheeks, yes...its not really needfully, but it looks quite good, particularly for babys... a real appearance.

now, actually i have the same technic like you, with the arms... but one different... i sew them ONLY to the stem! what kind of a stitch do u use, for the outside?

thanks a lot for your answer, its quite nice. your dolls looks very perfect!

    cheers and best wishes

    1. Thank you Simone! I'm not sure what the name is of the stitch I use on the outside of the arms. It's just a very basic back and forth stitch and I go around the arms several times and then tie off the thread. I hope that helps some. :)

      Best,
      Katie
